A recent study in “Physical Therapy in Sport” showed that the exercise that activated the abdominal muscles the most was….. The Plank (especially when performed on the Exercise Ball).

Why is this so exciting?

Well, we have know that the plank is one of the safest excises for the lower back but now we know that is is the most effective exercise for strengthening the abdominal muscles. Even though the plank is one of the safest exercises for the lower back, please be sure you are comfortable doing the plank on an unstable surface like an exercise ball. You can do plank from either on your palms or forearms. Either way is fine.

Try holding Plank for 15 seconds and work up (GRADUALLY) to one minute.
